According to blockchain data, Japan's Metaplanet has moved 3,881 bitcoin between wallets it controls.
The transfer, which is valued at approximately $1.4 billion at current prices, did not involve an exchange, meaning it was not a sale, based on reporting from CoinDesk.
At the time of the transfer, the price of bitcoin was $63,600.
This move by Metaplanet, a Japanese treasury firm, resulted in a significant paper loss, but since the bitcoins were transferred between the company's own wallets, it does not indicate a sale of the cryptocurrency.
